Latest News on the Community Governance Review:
In June St Edmunsbury Borough Council voted to accept the recommendation of their Community Governance Review Working Party that the boundary of Withersfield Parish should not change. This means that Hanchett End, Barsey Close and the Arboretum development will remain part of the Parish. The decision is now passed to the Boundary Commission who have the final say.
There remains a difference of opinion over the boundary with Haverhill Town Council taking the view that the area should become part of the Town.
The Haverhill Echo reported on its front page on 7th July:
Battle over Parish Boundary
Background to the Community Governance Review
During the Spring of 2016 St Edmundsbury Borough Council undertook a Community Governance Review of Parish Boundaries.
One proposal was to change the boundary of Withersfield Parish and move the areas of Hanchett End, Barsey Close and the Arboretum from Withersfield to Haverhill.
Following our own consultation and a public meeting in April 2016 the Parish Council decided to oppose the review's recommendations and submit the attached response to the CGR Working Party.
