There has been a cricket club in Withersfield since before the second world war but the current club was formed in 1989 with Sir Donald G Bradman as it's Patron & Honorary Life Member. Sir Donald's grandfather Charles Bradman was born in the village and christened in St Mary's church Withersfield on 26th May 1833. Donald visited Withersfield in 1930 and in 1991 agreed to become a patron & life member of the cricket club.
There are four matches planned for 2016:
Sunday 28th May 1.30pm at home against Helions Bumpstead Cricket Club - match won
Sunday 3rd July 1.30pm at home against Ashdon Cricket Club - cancelled water logged
Sunday 24th July 1.30pm at home the Presidents Vs Chairman's
Sunday 28th August away against Haverhill Cricket Club
